Time to meet the locals
and see what odd-jobs exist, since there was nothing of interest in the paper.

I can make $5 per quarter hour as a DJ
Though I'm not very good at it yet.

Hi! You're the new reporter that moved into town?

Could you write a review on our new TV model?
We'll give you a free sample to test run as payment for the article.

Well, at least I got a freelance lead.
Not many people here though...this town is pretty quiet.

Working as a bar tender
gets me a reasonably steady income...though that lightning bolt through the roof came closer than I'd like to think.

Hey, you must be Miss Rayne.
I'm glad to see a new face around here. Welcome to Dynasty Point.

College pool comes in handy,
I can usually beat people at the game, so can make money betting on myself.

Home again with about $800
It's enough to build at least a rain shelter, and get a desk. I met the head of the Garden Club today too.

Someone gave me a second-hand computer
they were going to throw out - which lets me do some freelance reporting jobs while waiting for a real journalism job to become available. And to write a book.

You said you'd just moved in with pretty much nothing...

So I looked through my stuff and thought

that you could sell this vase to help you get started.
Wow, people in this town have been really welcoming.

I met Jared Love today.
He's real cute, but I'm not 100% sure about him. I'll see whether it develops into something more than just hormones.

Taking a break from bartending
to meet more of the locals. They seem to have very few popular hangouts here...

No job yet...
I think I'm going to use the money from bartending and selling the TV and vase to start a business.

I opened a spa/chat venue.
It's becoming popular, and with town business grants it'll cover the building costs of a decent house. Just a little bit more work until I earn the big $50k grant.

Another TV review.
While these freelance reviews don't actually bring in any money, the sample products I get from them are awesome.

Well, I've earned $80k now...
Most of which was from government grants, but it means that I don't have to panic about jobs for a while. And that I can call the builder.

No more living on the lawn!
Those small business grants made all the difference. True - half the house is unfurnished, but it's built.

I've always wanted to learn how to play chess
I just love games of pretty much any sort!

Aren't you a gorgeous dog.

Shake foot...good girl!
Such a lovely dog...I wonder if she has a home anywhere?

The people of this town have been amazing.

Here's another new friend leaving me a spa
Candice liked spending time at Rayne's Spa so much she decided to get me a spa for private use.

There's a gaming hangout?
Now that is cool.

No. Even with black hair Jared's not the one.
There's just not enough chemistry between us. I'll have to keep looking.

Finally! A Journalism job.

Hey, you're back.
And you're hungry again? Don't you have an owner?

Well, I'm not letting that continue.
I'll gladly give you a home.

My first novel...
And it's a best seller! Yippee!

End of the first week here...
And what a week it's been.

I'm proud of what I've achieved,
especially when I started from so little. I think moving here may well have been the BEST decision I've ever made.

Rhea’s first week in Dynasty Point was an eventful one. Starting with a meagre $55, she built enough to start a business by working odd jobs downtown and getting a couple of great outing/good reputation presents. Rhea then built the business up to level 5, and used the business rewards for reaching level 5 to build her house – she had $80,000 to build the house by 8am on the Tuesday (24 home-hours after arrival)! Gotta love the way the clock stops when a Sim is not at home.
The rest of the week was then spent taking advantage of Autumn to skill at home while waiting for a job in the Journalism career to become available.
Rhea also made 16 friends during this first week.
